Case study of the old town of Nitra – the historical centre of the city, separated in two major sites. The upper town is located on the castle hill, the lower town lies under. The current situation is typical by strong traffic separation, expansion of new (modern) buildings and lack of safe, pedestrian lines. The whole area has been touched by the church spirit, the upper town remains of closed, private area belonging to the church representatives. Comparing to lower city, life here is reduced and silenced. The lower city is typical by vivid traffic and new building expansion.

Building new shopping malls in nearby area decreases the number of daily visitors here. The centre of the city is in the process of emptying.
