The ACNU represents an alliance of Australian and New Zealand practitioners, who are working together to improve the quality and sustainability of our urbanism. ACNU includes and welcomes urban designers, architects, planners, regulators and government leaders, engineers, developers, builders, financiers, investors, educators and students as well as citizens who care about their built environment, their resultant quality of life, and sustainability.

The Australian Council for New Urbanism is pleased to extend an invitation to join the 2010 Congress for New Urbanism to be held in Adelaide, South Australia. Pre-congress activities comprising of the Charrette and Masterclass programs are to be held from the 25th April to the 27th April 2010. The Congress commences on the evening of the 27th April 2010 at 4.30pm with a free presentation on the Introduction to Australian New Urbanism followed by the Welcome Reception at the Adelaide Zoo. The Congress will continue through to the 30th April 2010.

Keynote Speakers

Guest speakers New Urbanism campaigners Stef Polyzoides and Paul Murrain will stimulate discussion. Adelaide, known for its creative and innovative thinking, will contribute fine food and wines to stimulate the mind and senses. Refreshing built environments and rejuvenating natural places help the ideas to flow.

The theme of the 2010 Congress focuses on implementation, “From Plans to Places”. Although there are now many remarkable New Urban projects across Australia, we have not yet reached the critical mass to effect the necessary infrastructure and other improvements needed to make our cities sustainable and reduce carbon dependency. Join us at the Congress to help review national and international case studies and debate the pressing the pressing challenges for Australian cities.
