The Young Architects Forum Atlanta (YAF) partnered with Modern Atlanta and White Provisions to develop 10Up! National Architecture Competition, which challenged young architects to construct an installation during the MA10 “Design is HUMAN” week of events taking place in Atlanta, GA in June of 2010. We called on young designers to step up to the 10Up Challenge and they did, from across the world.
PERISCOPE is the winner of the 10UP! National Architecture Competition designed by Brandon Clifford & Wes Mcgee, founders of Matter Design Studio. It’s an inhabitable installation with iconic implications to advocate bold architecture for the Atlanta community and young designers across the globe.
The 10up! Challenge had began as only an idea in January of 2010, in order to construct a more educated and encouraging public in Atlanta. The winning project was selected by our distinguished jury at the end of April. Periscope was delivered by the winning team less then a month later, ready for assembly, on May 27th. The 45 foot tower was assembled on site by the winning team along with YAF Volunteers in one day on May 28th.
We thank everyone for their vision, participation, dedication, and hard work for the last few months, especially the gracious donations of many, manyindividuals and companies without whom this project would not have been possible. We hope that this competition has inspired and will continue to inspire young designers from across the world.
